The Tower Falls, The Star Rises: A Career Pivot
I drew these cards in the office bathroom, right after my final meeting. The Tower in the present position. The Star in the future. Tarot offered no false comfort, no soft reframing of what had happened. It spoke plainly: the old structure no longer fit.
I sat there for a long moment, staring at those two images side by side. There was something almost honest about their juxtaposition—the rawness of rupture beside the gentle pull of something not yet visible, but promised. Not *consolation*, but *direction*.
A year later, my first freelance project emerged from that very emptiness. Not despite the Tower's fall, but because of it. The space it cleared was exactly where new roots could grow.
When we look back at upheaval, we often wish we'd seen it coming. But perhaps the real gift isn't foresight—it's the clarity that arrives *after* everything shifts. The Star doesn't shine less brightly for having come after darkness. If anything, that's the only way we learn to see it.
Lessons learned
Collapse and renewal are not opposites; they are chapters in the same story. Sometimes what feels like an ending is actually the ground clearing for a beginning we couldn't have imagined from within the old structure.
