Step 1: Shuffling

The Purpose of Shuffling

To enter new energy: Shuffling helps "clear" old energy from previous readings, preparing a clean energetic space.

To create an energetic link: The shuffling process helps you (the reader), the seeker, the question they're facing, and the deck form a single "network" of connection.

The Shuffling Process (3 Steps)

Step 1: Cleanse Your Hands and Take the Deck - Wash your hands to "clear" your energy - Remove the deck, face down - Place it in the center of a cloth or mat

Step 2: Shuffle in One Consistent Direction - The seeker focuses on their question silently - Shuffle in one single direction (determined by how you shuffle first) - Continue shuffling until the cards feel thoroughly mixed

Step 3: Gather and Lay Horizontally - Once the seeker feels the deck is ready (the cards have "understood" the question), gather all cards back together - Place the deck horizontally in front of the seeker

Important note: Throughout this process, do not look at the faces of the cards. If a card falls, begin again from the start.

The Purpose of Cutting

Cutting helps the deck "receive" the specific question and brings the seeker's unique energy into the cards.

The Cutting Process (7 Steps)

Step 1: Identify the Center Position - The seeker looks at the deck lying horizontally before them—this is the "center position"

Step 2: Cut to the Near Position - From the deck in the center position, lift away approximately half - Place this portion closer to the seeker—this is the "near position"

Step 3: Cut to the Far Position - From the portion in the "near position," lift away half again - Place this portion above the center position—this is the "far position"

Now you have three piles: one in the center, one near, one far.

Step 4: Stack in Order - Take the pile from the "center position" and place it on top of the pile from the "near position" - Then take that combined stack and place it on top of the pile from the "far position" - Now you have a single stack

Step 5: Divide Into Two Equal Parts (Left and Right) - Stand the deck upright - Divide it into two equal halves: left and right
