Temperance Between Mother and Grown Child
My mother and I didn't speak for three months after a careless word. Three cards held the shape of what needed to happen: the Five of Swords in what was, Temperance in what is, and the Ten of Cups in what might be.
The reading offered me a language I couldn't find on my own. The Five of Swords showed me the cost of being right—the hollow victory of an argument won but a relationship fractured. I saw myself in that card, still holding the blades, still wounded.
Temperance arrived not as an answer but as a question: What if I stopped defending myself? What if I simply reached across the silence?
I sent her a message without apology or explanation—just a small, true thing. *I miss you.* A week later, we sat with tea like two women, not mother and daughter locked in some old story, but two people learning how to hold space for each other's imperfection.
The Ten of Cups wasn't a promise that everything would be easy after that. It was something quieter: the possibility of belonging together, flawed and honest, learning to pour from fullness instead of scarcity.
