At 3 a.m., Nine of Swords did not predict disaster — it named the spiral I was already living inside.

Nine of Swords upright at 3 a.m. is almost cliché, which made me hate it more. I wanted the card to tell me something cosmic. My reader refused the drama. She asked me to split the page in two: what I was afraid of, and what was actually happening. The fear column filled fast. The facts column was shorter and quieter. I kept the journal for two weeks. The card stopped feeling like a prophecy of doom and started feeling like a reminder to check which voice was running the night shift.
